THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Higher Secondary Schools will have intervals of 10 minutes each in the forenoon and afternoon and a lunch break of 40 minutes from the next term onwards.

Earlier, the forenoon and afternoon intervals were of five minutes each and the duration of lunch break was 35 minutes. With the increase in break timings, HSE classes will end at 4.45 pm instead of 4.30 pm, a senior official said. An order on the increased break timings would be issued soon. The move comes in the wake of complaints, mostly from girls, that the duration of breaks was inadequate.
