Lifeguards on Stir Path

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Tourism Lifeguard Association of Kerala said on Friday that the 140 lifeguards working under the State Tourism Department would resort to an agitation if the government continues to disregard the Kerala Administrative Tribunal’s order to regularise them in government service.

In March, Chairman of the tribunal K Balakrishnan Nair, in an order, had directed the Tourism Secretary to take appropriate steps to regularise the lifeguards. However, president of Tourism Lifeguard Association Varanad Mohanan alleged that the department played down the order citing lack of posts.
