Project to Conserve Water Launched

The National Savings Scheme (NSS) and the Communications and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) under the Water Resources Department launched a project named ‘Jalasambadyam’ in 1,500 centres across the state on Saturday.

The National Savings Scheme (NSS) and the Communications and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) under the Water Resources Department launched a project named ‘Jalasambadyam’ in 1,500 centres across the state on Saturday.

The state-level inauguration of the project was done here at 9 a m at the residence of Health Minister V S Sivakumar. The Minister said that steps were taken to conserve rain water in order to avoid scarcity in the coming summer season. He also appreciated everyone behind the project. The inauguration of the project was also held in district, block, panchayat and ward-levels at the same time across the state. As part of the awareness campaign, Mahila Pradhan agents will visit as many as 79 lakh houses and other institutions to create awareness on water conservation in the coming days.

The agents will also take with them leaflets as part of the awareness campaign. National Savings Department director Jose Jacob, CCDU director V Subash Chandrabose and  National Savings Department deputy director P K Elizabeth were present.
