Pongala: Review Meeting Held

A review meeting was held here on Thursday to evaluate the arrangements for the Attukal Pongala festival.

A review meeting was held here on Thursday to evaluate the arrangements for the Attukal Pongala festival. In the meeting chaired by Mayor K Chandrika, it was decided to light all streetlamps in the wards announced as festival zones before Pongala. Organisations that offer food to the devotees during the festival should obtain permission either from the City Corporation or the office of the Food Safety Commissioner. Details of those who avail such permission have to be submitted to the police.

 Voluntary organisations that provide food should process the garbage on their own. Plastic disposable cups, plastic and thermocole plates should not be used. Health Officer and other officials were given directions to carry out the cleaning activities in a time-bound manner.

 Deputy Mayor G Happykumar, Welfare Standing Committee chairman Palayam Rajan, Health Standing Committee chairperson S Pushpalatha, Town Planning Standing committee chairperson Vanaja Rajendrababu, UDF leader Johnson Joseph, BJP councillor P Asok Kumar, councillors of the festival zone, secretary, additional secretary, health officer, health officials of the Corporation and other government officers were present at the meeting.
