CPI state secretary Pannian Ravindran on Wednesday flayed the police excesses against members of Janakeeya Samara Samithi activists who protested against the land acquisitions for NH widening at Vadakara in Kozhikode district.

He said in a statement that in spite of the fact that a new Home Minister had assumed office, it is condemnable that police were following the same barbaric culture of committing atrocities against  people.  He said the incidence of  injuring the genital organ of a protestor in T’Puram during the  blockade of CM in connection with the solar scam, has been repeated at Vadakara. “The UDF has always been following a style of suppressing the popular agitations,’’ he said. He demanded a high-level probe against police excesses after removing  the guilty officials at Vadakara.
