Railways to Run Four Special Trains

The other arrangements include additional coaches in passenger trains, more stops for express trains at small stations, additional ticket, information and announcement counters, medical aid centre and enhanced security at stations

The Southern Railway will run four special trains between Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam for the sake of Attukal Pongala devotees. The Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam special train will leave Thiruvananthapuram Central Station at 3.30 pm to reach Kollam Junction at 5.40 pm. The next train will leave at 3.45 pm to reach Kollam at 6.15 pm.

Additional Coaches

All passenger trains arriving and leaving Thiruvananthapuram will be attached with additional coaches from Friday to Sunday.

Control Room

A special security control room will be functional round-the-clock at Thiruvananthapuram Central station on February 15 and 16. Passengers can contact the RPF Rail Alert over 9995040000.

 As many as 332 RPF cadres with 100 lady constables and three lady officers from other divisions will be deployed.

They will be directly controlled by a commissioner of RPF who will be assisted by three Assistant Commissioners and a team 13 circle inspectors and 40 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors of RPF. Additional bomb detection squad and dog squad will also be in service.

Appeal to Devotees

The railways have asked the devotees not to place any hearth in the railway stations to avoid possible fire hazard.

They have also been advised to avoid making contact with the high voltage overhead traction with long pole etc. Parking at railway stations has been restricted as a preventive security measure.
