Health Minister V S Sivakumar said that a special health scheme package ‘Ushus’ - Urban Slum Health Upliftment Scheme - will be launched at Karimadom colony here.
As part of the project, health camps will be conducted and based on the feedback a team of doctors will visit the colony twice a month and conduct medical check-ups.
Treatment will be free and medicines will be provided free of cost. The services of junior public health nurses and Asha workers will be provided for the scheme.
The Health Minister also said that Rs 50 crore would be allotted for the comprehensive project soon.
