C Divakaran Urges Cong Not to Field Shashi Tharoor
CPI Legislature Party leader C Divakaran has urged KPCC president V M Sudheeran and the Congress leadership to not field Minister of State for HRD Shashi Tharoor again in Thiruvananthapuram constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, if the party has any political ethics left.
Addressing a news conference, Divakaran said that he was asking Sudheeran whether he had the courage to bring out the mystery behind the death of Sunanda Pushkar.
He also asked Sudheeran whether he would campaign for Tharoor in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency.
Divakaran alleged that the Congress Ministers at the Centre and state have become sex offenders.
He pointed out that while Congress president Sonia Gandhi was launching the Nirbhaya scheme meant for the protection of women and children the other day, police were preparing the inquest of the death of a poor woman who was murdered by Congressmen at the Congress office in Nilambur.
He said they would reproduce Sunanda Pushkar’s tweet on Tharoor claiming that she was owning up the blame for Tharoor’s involvement in the IPL scam issue.
Divakaran opined that the Congress party would be insulting the capital district if they field Tharoor once again here.
Coming down heavily on the UPA Government and the State Government for their anti-people stand, Divakaran said that there was no means to bring down the prices of essential commodities.
He also pointed out that there was no mention of the efforts to deal with the escalation of prices. Instead the Central Government slashed the prices of cars and bikes. “Will the slashing of prices of cars and motor bikes help bring down the prices of essential commodities?” he asked.
He also criticised Finance Minister K M Mani for not taking efforts to allay the fears of people on the Kasturirangan and Gadgil reports.
“Mani is playing a cheap drama. He met the Chief Minister the other day to discuss seat sharing for the Lok Sabha elections. But when Mani came out, he told mediapersons that they were discussing the Kasturirangan report,” he alleged.
Divakaran said the UDF was in disarray and many of their coalition partners either left the coalition or became inactive.
The CPI Legislature Party leader said this time the Lok Sabha elections would be a ‘Waterloo’ for the Congress’.
Divakaran also revealed that the CPI would contest in all the four seats they had contested last time.
He said they had no difference of opinion with the CPM on defeating the Congress.
