KU Syndicate Moots Registering Case Against Ex-Registrar

The Kerala University Syndicate has recommended that a case be registered against University former Registrar K A Hashim and section officer N Ashokan after a three-member sub-committee found the duo guilty of misappropriation of funds.

The Kerala University Syndicate has recommended that a case be registered against University former Registrar K A Hashim and section officer N Ashokan after a three-member sub-committee found the duo guilty of misappropriation of funds.

The Syndicate also decided to bring the case to the government’s notice and tasked the University Finance Officer to audit the Registrar’s account when Hashim was in charge. The Syndicate had on February 12 constituted the sub-committee to inquire into the alleged “unauthorised withdrawal” of around Rs 38 lakh from the provisional advance account in 2011 when Hashim was the Registrar. The sub-committee comprised Syndicate members R S Sasikumar, B S Jyothi Kumar and P Reghunath.Hashim is presently the director of the  SCERT. Ashokan was suspended on Feb12 pending inquiry after the Finance Officer pointed out that 10 cash withdrawals were made from the then Registrar’s account without any authorisation from the University.
