Minister Opens Mini Farm Museum

The Mini Farm Museum set up by the Department of Agriculture at Anayara here was opened on Tuesday.

Minister for Agriculture K P Mohanan inaugurated the Museum which has been set up in State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) at Venpalavattom, Anayara.

“The lack of knowledge of agricultural officers on hi-tech farming hinder the development of new methods of farming.

When a new technology is introduced, it is important that it reaches the farmers. The training for officers on hi-tech farming should start soon.” the Minister said.

He also inaugurated the farmers’ call centre of the Agriculture Department by answering the call of one Sudhamani of the district. Agriculture director R Ajithkumar, State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute director P Sheela, Agriculture Extension Additional Director K K Chandran, among others, spoke.

The Museum exhibits years-old agricultural equipment and describes traditional agricultural methods with an aim to make the new generation aware about them.

Farmers can make calls to the call centre to know about the activities of the Agriculture Department and to clear their doubts on farming. The call centre number is 18002251661.
