Councillor Complains Against Protestors

According to the six people against whom the complaint has been registered, they were informed by the police to present themselves before Attingal DySP, based on a complaint filed by the councillor

Kattayikonam councillor G Vinod has filed a complaint against six residents of Kattayikonam and Chanthavila divisions who are members of the people’s council formed against the draft master plan, in the Attingal DySP office alleging that they were an obstacle for him in carrying out developmental activities in his ward.

The same councillor had declared a few days ago that he was for the people and would not allow the master plan to be implemented in his ward.

According to the six people, Vijayakumar, Baburaj, Shiju, Suresh, Sreekanth and Sujith, against whom the complaint has been registered, they were informed by the police to present themselves before Attingal DySP Prathapan Nair, based on a complaint filed by the councillor.

The local people said that with this incident, the real intentions of the councillor have been revealed. “He had said several times that he was against the draft master plan and had also demanded that it should be cancelled. But now he wants us to step back from the protest so that the draft can be implemented here,” said Thulaseedharan, the convenor of the people’s council.

“We will fight till our last breath against the master plan and people here know us very well. It is only because he knows the strength of the people that he resorted to such a secret move to stop us from carrying out further protests,” said Vijayakumar.

When contacted, the Attingal DySP said he has received such a complaint from councillor Vinod. “No decision has been taken in this regard. I have asked them to come to my office on Thursday to discuss the matter with them,” said the DySP.

Curiously, the councillor, on Wednesday, stood up and raised his voice against the master plan and also asked the authorities to cancel the master plan, in a meeting held at the Town Planning Office.
