Wanted Criminal Held under Goonda Act

Valiyathura police nabbed a wanted criminal the other day. Ramesh Babu alias Kannan was arrested under the Goonda Act. He has been charged with serious violations, including attempts of murder and molestation, as well as armed attacks.

Valiyathura police nabbed a wanted criminal the other day. Ramesh Babu alias Kannan was arrested under the Goonda Act. He has been charged with serious violations, including attempts of murder and molestation, as well as armed attacks.

Ramesh, who lives in Vettucaud, is accused of nefarious activities near All Saints College, Vettucaud and Balanagar. As the number of crimes increased, District Collector Biju Prabhakar, City Commissioner H Venkatesh and Deputy Commisioner Ajeetha Begum issued orders to speed up the investigation.  A team led by Shanghumugham Assistant Commissioner Jawahar Janardin effected the arrest.

The accused is now kept in detention. This is the second arrest from Valiyathura under the Goonda Act this year. So far, 18 criminals have been arrested under the Act.

Gang of Robbers Arrested

The police had arrested a gang of four robbers involved in robberies across three states-Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The arrested have been identified as Robinkumar R, 24, from Kanyakumari, Manikantan A, 40, from Madathil, Anilkumar S, 39, from Chirayinkeezhu and Naushad Wahid, 42, from Pangode.

Robinkumar and Manikantan befriended each other while they were together in the Nagercoil Jail. Anilkumar and Naushad were introduced by Manikantan. The gang used to span long distances in a car and break into houses. Anilkumar and Naushad have various cases registered against them in Mangalapuram, Malappuram and Neyyattinkara. Robinkumar had over 45 cases registered against him while he was serving his jail sentence in Nagercoil.

Dies After Fall from Building

A person hailing from Assam fell from the third floor of a school in Vettucaud.When taken to the Medical College Hospital, he was declared brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Gou. He was talking on the phone and slipped from the third floor.
