The young adventurous traveller, who made a daring journey ‘under’ the train from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram, is now recovering at the Medical College Hospital here from the deep injuries he suffered during his ‘escapade’. Deol Basamattari, an Assam native, was nabbed by the Railway Protection Force last week for travelling between the wheel set and bogey floor under the train.

“He has a deep wound on the shoulder and other injuries. He is under observation at the Medical College Hospital,” a Railway protection official said. The official said that no case has been registered against him till now.

Deol, touted as mentally challenged, actually came to Kerala in order to gain a job at a rubber factory at Kottayam. “He came to Kochi along with his friends by Guwahati- Ernakulam Express. After reaching there, Deol had a fight with his friends. After the fight he ran away and got in between the wheel set and bogey floor,” he said.

After four long hours of journey, it was a hilarious task to get him out from under the train. Though he got into the ‘special compartment easily’ the RPF personnel had a hard time to get him out.

The adventurous story came to light during the routine inspection by mechanical team of the Railways.
