Draft of Socio-economic and Caste Census to be Published

Minister of Rural Development, Planning and Culture K C Joseph said on Wednesday that the draft of the socio- economic and caste census will be published on May 19.

 Complaints and recommendations on the draft will be welcomed from the day of publication of the draft. The data for the census was collected from April 10 in 2012 and the information of over 77 lakh families in the state have been recorded, he said.

 Apart from incorporating the basic demographic details, the census is also expected to contain data on beneficiaries of various schemes of the State Government under the Twelfth Five Year Plan.

 Any complaints regarding the draft can be submitted to the respective panchayat secretary or at the block, municipality and Corporation levels until June 8.

 All complaints will be addressed by conducting hearing within seven days of the receipt of the complaint.

 Those who have complaints with respect to the primary hearing can appeal at the district level.

The BPL list will also be published with the census based on the set of norms of the Central Government, the Minister said.
