FCI Workers' Protest

A Sampath MP, president, Food Corporation of India Workers Association (CITU), said here on Monday  that the Union Government should not bifurcate Food Corporation of India (FCI) into three  divisions based on the report submitted by McKinsey.

He said that the FCIWA would organise a protest in all FCI godowns across the state on May 13 as a token stir against the move.

Addressing a press meet, Sampath said that the government was going ahead with dividing FCI into three departments based on the report which would only lead to worsening the food supply chain in the country. “FCI workers will be at the receiving end as the three departments will have different work culture as well as different laws. This cannot be justified in any manner. The move is part of privatisation of the FCI which should not be allowed,” he said.
