Govt Not to Close Down School

The State Government on Wednesday cancelled the decision to close down the Malaparamba AUP School in Kozhikode.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The State Government on Wednesday cancelled the decision to close down the Malaparamba AUP School in Kozhikode.

The State Cabinet reviewed the decision and cancelled the same, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at the post-cabinet press briefing.

The 139-year-old Malaparamba Aided Upper Primary School building was found razed to the ground last month using a bulldozer. Later, the police confiscated the bulldozer and arrested its driver.

The State Government decided to give financial assistance to the KSEB for setting up a 110 KV substation at the land allotted to Indian Air Force at Muttathara in Thiruvananthapuram. A single doctor dispensary will be started at the ESI Hospital in Kalpetta in Wayanad. The cabinet decided to sanction new posts to start Community Dentistry Division at Government Dental colleges in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Kottayam.

At Alappuzha Medical College, new posts will be sanctioned based on the norms of the Dental Council to start a new Dental college. The cabinet decided to provide all facilities and new posts for the functioning of the Hariharan Nair Commission set up to study the backwardness of the Nadar community.

The Revenue Department will give 20 cents of land in its possession to set up a mini civil station at Vellanad. An area of 16.2 ares of puramboke land at Chenganoor will be given for constructing an Ayurveda Hospital. Ayurveda units will be started at the ESI dispensaries at Chavara and Thodupuzha.

The cabinet approved the proposal for a voluntary retirement scheme for employees at Aralam farm.

One post each of Senior Superintendent will be created in the district offices of the Social Justice Department.

Fifty cents of land from the Revenue Department will be given for setting up Travancore Folklore village at Nellavoor in Kottayam.
