Strange Twists to Kidnap Case

Rajeev, the bus driver of Cotton Hill Girls’ Higher Secondary School, was kidnapped when he was at Pappanamcode related to repair works of the school bus at a local workshop there

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Giving a fresh twist to the kidnap case of a schoolbus driver, the accused raised an allegation that the driver had molested one of the students in the school, who is a relative of the accused.

The incident had taken place on Tuesday. Rajeev, the bus driver of Cotton Hill Girls’ Higher Secondary School, was kidnapped when he was at Pappanamcode related to repair works of the school bus at a local workshop there. He was kidnapped by a group who came in a car when he was talking to the workshop owner, near the workshop, which is situated near the industrial estate.

Later, a probe was launched under the Nemom Circle Inspector. But the case met a twist after Rajeev was bundled out of a vehicle in front of the police station after 10.30 pm.

Police arrested one Hashim and Sabeer from Vallakadav, on the basis of the information given by the victim, on Wednesday. The accused Hashim, 30, is an auto driver from Vallakadavu.

The Nemom CI said that the kidnap was carried out by a team led by Hashim and he has admitted to the crime. “According to Hashim, the driver Rajeev had molested Hashim’s relative who is a student at the same school where Rajeev is working and for revenge Rajeev was kidnapped,’’ said the police.

At the same time, the police said that they are investigating more about this new allegation. They added that no petition or complaint was filed with the police or the school authorities in this regard.

Even the school authorities also have a good opinion about Rajeev. They said that they also has not received any complaints against him.

After this incident, Mohanan, one of the conductors of the same school has filed a complaint that last week a team who came in a white car had threatened him and told him to call another driver Hari, allegedly in order to kidnap him.

But Hari, who felt something fishy, had escaped from the spot. Later, the kidnappers threw Mohanan out of the car. Nemom police registered a case in this connection also.
