Alliance Française de Trivandrum in association with the Embassy of France in India will screen Un prophete ( A prophet ) as part of April Cinéclub, on May 24 at 5.30pm at the centre.
A 2009 French prison drama that won the 2010 BAFTA for Best Film not in the English Language, narrates the story of Malik El Djebena (Tahar Rahim) a nineteen-year-old French of Algerian descent who is sentenced to six years in prison for attacking police officers. In the prison, alone and illiterate, he falls under the sway of Corsican mobsters, led by Cesar Luciani (Niels Arestrup), who enforces a brutal rule.
