Hotel Room Theft: Photo Released

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City Police have released the photograph of the suspect in the theft case at a hotel room in Thampanoor the other day. A couple hailing from Maharashtra had lost Rs 55,000 and a debit card of HDFC Bank which they had kept in their locked room.

The couple, who went for a marriage in the city, had left the key with the hotel reception and the theft was noticed when they returned. Those who have information on the accused may contact the Thampanoor Circle-Inspector over 9497987013 or sub-inspector over 9497980046.

‘Murder Attempt’ over Sand Mining

A man has accused his neighbour of trying to kill him as he had foiled a sand-mining attempt, in Cheriyakolla. Robert Raj has registered a case against his neighbour Vincent with the Vellarada Police. He is now being treated in the hospital for a fracture in his bone. According to the police, he owns a paddyfield close to Vincent’s field.

The police said, “On Thursday at 4.30 am, Vincent was seen mining sand from his own field, when Robert was passing by. Vincent was then accompanied by Jayalal, who allegedly operates a sand-mining business. Though Robert told the two that this was illegal, they did not budge. So he informed the police. Robert told us that while he was talking to the police on the phone, the duo ran him over with the tipper lorry, with the intention of killing him.”

Police passing by in a jeep found him lying injured on the road. They took him to the nearest hospital, according to the police.

Elderly Woman, Nephew Attacked

A 74-year-old woman near Pothencode has been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. Devakiyamma and her nephew Rajendran, 66, who was also attacked, have accused two neighbours of trying to hurt them. They live near Odoor Temple in Ayiroopara. The two accused are Abhilash and Retheesh. They are neighbours of Devakiyamma. They had quarrelled with the two, according to the police. The quarrel took a serious turn when Devakiyamma was attacked. A case has been registered with the Pothencode police.

Man Hit by Bus Succumbs to Injuries

A 70-year-old man hit by a KSRTC bus succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. The deceased, N Raveendran, was hit by the bus near Alancode Junction on Monday. The Attingal Police have registered a case.
