NCC Girls' Annual Camp Ends

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The combined annual training camp of 1 Kerala Girls’ Battalion NCC concluded at Government HSS and VHSS for the Hearing Impaired, Jagathy, on Thursday.

Attended by 500 girl cadets from schools and colleges in the district, the camp focused on various aspects of the NCC syllabus and cadets were exposed to military training.

The ten-day camp featured drill, firing, map reading, fieldcraft and battle craft. This apart, lectures and sessions on legal awareness, personality development, fire and rescue, ecology, aerobics and problems of adolescence were part of the camp, said Capt Gugamalathy A, Commanding Officer of the battalion. Karate and aerobics sessions also were part of the ten-day event.

The closing ceremony was held on Wednesday. Lt Vineet Kurup, Commanding Officer, 1 Kerala Naval Unit, addressed the cadets and distributed prizes. Senior officers including Colonel Nanda Kumar, Group Commander, NCC Group, Thiruvananthapuram, visited the camp during the course of the ten days.
