Ten Lakh Saplings to be Planted

The state will set a record by planting 10 lakh tree saplings on June 5, on the World Environment Day.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state will set a record by planting 10 lakh tree saplings on June 5, on the World Environment Day. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has sent letters to District Collectors asking to take urgent steps to make the planting of saplings a grant success.

10 lakh saplings will be planted on the day under the Participatory Environment Activity, which is expected to be a record of sorts. All government departments are taking part in the initiative.  A total of 75,000 saplings will be planted in each district between 10.30 am and 11.30 am.
