THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Right from the announcement of the result at the District Collectorate on Friday, Sobha Sivadath was getting busy for the day. After placing a floral wreath at Martyrs’ Column, she set out for Attipra to thank voters in an open jeep. Accolades from relatives, friends and local residents were pouring in at her home from morning.

Sobha’s involvement in social life so far has been a membership in the local Kudumbashree wing. Otherwise, she  used to be a full-time homemaker. In fact, she is yet to get a mobile phone connection for her own!   “A comprehensive development for the ward is what I intend to do. All pending projects for the area have to be completed,” said Sobha regarding her plans for the ward, in the council that has a tenure of just a year-and-a-half left.

Sobha, a 44-year-old, has completed SSLC. Her husband S S Sivadath has served as the councillor of Attipra ward for five years earlier and her father was a member of the LDF when Attipra was part of the panchayat. Her daughter Saranya Dath is a plus-two student and son Saran Dath is studying in tenth standard.
