Nod for Grama Panchayats to Release Funds

The State Govt has issued orders on Tuesday giving permission to grama panchayats in the state to release funds up to `50,000 for disaster relief works due to recent damage incurred due to summer rains.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Govt has issued orders on Tuesday giving permission to grama panchayats in the state to release funds up to `50,000 for disaster relief works due to recent damage incurred due to summer rains.

The order makes it clear that the grama panchayat secretaries should ensure that coordination committees are formed for streamlining of the disaster relief with Revenue Dept and Disaster Management cell in the state. The local bodies can spend up to Rs 50,000 for various disaster relief measures for May and June. Utilisation of funds should be submitted in the respective local bodies and approval should be taken.
