THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For the total growth of the nation, there should be a technology-oriented, accelerated growth process, said Governor Sheila Dikshit. She was speaking at the 24th World Congress of Institute of Directors (IoD) here on Friday.

She said that our developmental parameters should include health and education sectors as well for ensuring comprehensive growth of all segments of the society, including the marginalised. Dikshit also pointed towards the need to give due priority and recognition to human resources for technological advancements in India.

She presented IoD fellowships for best performance in public service to Vice-Chairman of Kerala State Planning Board K M Chandrasekhar, Chief Secretary E K Bharat Bhushan, CMD of Kerala Financial Corporation P Joy Oommen and MD and CEO of LNG Petronet A K Balyan.

Inaugurating the conference, Bharat Bhushan said that fresh insights need to be introduced in the public sector as Kerala was a state with around 120 public sector enterprises. He termed the fast fading misconceptions about entrepreneurship among the younger generation of the state as a welcome sign.

Director General of IoD, Kerala chapter, C M Radhakrishnan Nair, Colin Coulson Thomas from the UK and J S Ahluwalia, president of IoD also spoke.
