There is a criticism that the young generation is always scurrying to click snaps and ‘googling’ the famous philosophical quotes to upload them on the social media websites, especially facebook. But here is a group of youths who are turning an exception.

They are not running to upload their pictures just for getting ‘likes’. They are not ready to ‘loot’ the quotes and render  them in their own words just to gain appreciation.

And, apart from all these, they are ready to say that they don’t need the support of any so-called ‘social site users’ to become  celebrities.

The facebook group named ‘freethinkers’ comprise youth who are correcting the misconceptions about the current youth. A science seminar conducted by this community here on Sunday showed their commitment to society, when there is a complaint that the current generation has no commitment.

The seminar discussed various science topics. “Nowadays  people are not ready to grasp the information about science-related matters, except for the science students. The public’s unawareness about the key role of science in the development of society is the reason behind this,” said Santhosh Palathinkal, the president of freethinkers.

“These types of seminars are conducted in order to overcome this situation, by spreading the value of science through classes and presentations by experts,” he said.

The topic ‘Negative energy and positive thoughts’ was  presented by Vaishakhan Thampi and the second session was led by Ashish Jose Ambat on the topic ‘Shasthravum science-um’.

The event was inaugurated by Prof C Ravichandran. This is the second programme in the state of the community, which was formed in 2010.
