THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the aim of finding loving shelters for homeless animals, Street Dog Watch Association, together with People for Animals and Raksha, is holding an adoption drive on June 1.
Puppies and kittens of local breeds will be put up for free adoption at Sea Face Hotel, Beach Road, Kovalam.
The event will take place between 10 am and 2 pm on the day. Free vaccination against rabies and free sterilisation will be offered for the adopted animals.
The aim of such a drive, according to the organisers, is to prevent the increase in number of homeless animals on the city streets through animal birth control, prevent spread of rabies through vaccination of dogs, encourage adopting local breed dogs or cats as opposed to buying exotic animals, and encourage a better approach to animal welfare in Kerala.
