RCC: Centre Grants Rs 120 cr

The Central government has sanctioned Rs 120 crore to the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) for upgrading it into a state institute.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central government has sanctioned Rs 120 crore to the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) for upgrading it into a state institute. The fund was given to RCC on the basis of a proposal submitted by the state government to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

 The amount will be used for buying equipment and for other infrastructure development, Health Minister V S Sivakumar said. He also said that 25 per cent of the total cost for giving a facelift to the RCC will be provided by the state government.

An MoU in this regard will be signed soon between the state and Central governments and RCC.
