Not Too Far Away

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vishnu Thulaseedharan is your quintessential techie but for his passion. His passion lies not within the four walls of his office but far outside in the world of music. Vishnu is a happy man these days for, come June this techie will bring out his first music single.

“My passion for music started only from my college days. And ever since then I have been learning sound engineering and programming from the internet. It took three to four years for me to slowly master the craft,” Vishnu says.

The self-taught keyboardist, music programmer and composer already have to his credit background scores for many shortfilms, animation films and the like. He has also orchestrated music for Kannada albums.

“I got the opportunity to do background score for the inauguration of Natana the cultural club of Technopark,” he adds.

The single titled Still Away has Vishnu as the singer, composer and programmer.

Asked why a Malayalam song carries an English title the 26-year-old sheepishly admits it is to catch the attention of the audience. “I felt if I chose a Malayalam title it would sound clichéd, hence to avoid that I thought of going for an English title instead. First it was tilted ‘Away’ on the lines of my song Doore. And to give it a punch I later added ‘Still’ to it,” he says.

The song is a sad one that starts as a melody and gets heavy on instruments later. Asked what genre he prefers to work on Vishnu says, “As a composer one cannot say that I will work only in a single genre. We should be able to work on anything that comes our way.”

The song also has a music video featuring Vishnu. “It is shot in the form of a band performance and also tells a story.”

The music video is directed by Krishna G. The lyrics are by Atmabodth. The sole instrument used in the song is guitar which is played by Arun Puthenparambil.

The music single is being brought out under Desperate Dudes Production house.

About future plans Vishnu says, “If songs clicks well with the audience then I have plans to form a performance group.”
