THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nine students and researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)in US, will be in the city for a month from June 20 to participate in a workshop that will explore avenues in joint research and product development.
The workshop on ‘Innovation, Fabrication and Entrepreneurship’ is being organised by TechTop Charitable Trust, as part of its 10th anniversary. The one week long workshop is being conducted at Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology and a three-week workshop from June 28 at TechTop Centre at Chirayinkeezh.

The organizers of the event said that more than 60 students from IITs, NITs, BITs, Delhi Technological University, Manipal Institute of Technology, SRM University and Kerala Technological University have already registered for the workshop.
Native students will join the students and researchers from MIT for joint research and product development in areas of health science, medical devices, solar, energy, education, trade, business, finance, fisheries and agriculture.
“We are also looking for institutions in the government or private as well as agencies or NGOs to associate with the individual students or research teams in identifying problems in the respective areas for which they could find innovative solutions,” said Rajesh Nair, managing trustee of TechTop Charitable Trust.
A meeting of the interested representatives of such entities is scheduled to be held at Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology, on June 21 at 2 pm, he added.
