THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Technological University (KTU) will conduct a workshop on ‘Start-up Policy and Entrepreneurship Development’ here on June 23.
Representatives from Intel, Google, Menlo Park, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Start-up Village will present ideas at the workshop. Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb will inaugurate workshop at 10 am on Diamond Jubilee Hall, College of Engineering campus, here.
Taking into account, the large number of talented youths who could become entrepreneurs, the Kerala Technological University (KTU) has formulated its academic curriculum to provide training in entrepreneurial skills.
As part of the curriculum, the students will have to score 100 academic points during the four years of study by undergoing training in entrepreneurship, technology business incubators, NCC, NSS or physical education. Two hours will be set apart in a week and the student will have to earn two credits.
Various organisations associated with MIT, Menlo Park, Start-Up Village, Google and Intel had given proposals to have meaningful engagement with the students to attract them towards entrepreneurship. Principals, along with the selected champion faculty, will attend the workshop.
M Madhavan Nambiar, chairman IIITMK, P Joy Oommen, CMD KFC, P H Kurien Secretary Industries and IT, C Jayashankar, CEO, Startup Mission Kerala, Sanjay Vijayakumar, chairman, Start-up Village Kochi, Rajesh Nair, director, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Asia School of Business, Kuala Lumpur, and Mukul Agarwal, co-founder and managing partner, BootUp Ventures, Menlo Park, will present different models of content and delivery of start ups.
