THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Veteran music director the late G Devarajan has been selected for the 19th Kamukara Award instituted in memory of playback singer Kamukara Purushothaman.
The award is being given posthumously for Devarajan’s contributions to Malayalam cinema and theatre, Kamukara Foundation president V Rajeevan and general secretary P V Sivan said. The award comprises Rs 25,000, a statuette designed by artist Bhattathiri and a citation. It will be presented at a function to be held on May 23 at University Senate Hall. Devarajan was selected by a jury headed by Perumbuzha Gopalakrishnan. The others in the jury included Leela Omcherry, Poovachal Khadar and Ravi Menon.
The office-bearers said that poet O N V Kurup will also be felicitated at the award function.
