THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The V K Madhavan Kutty Media Awards - 2015 was announced by Rajya Sabha MP P V Abdul Wahab on Wednesday at a function organised by Keraleeyam.
The awards for excellence in print and visual media are instituted in memory of V K Madhavan Kutty, journalist and founder president of Keraleeyam, a Global Kerala Initiative.
At a press conference here, Abdul Wahab said there were four awards two each in print and visual media. ‘Social Commitment’ was the theme of the reports considered for the award.
The award winners are Print Media: John Mundakkayam (Malayala Manorama), ‘Kondum Kopduthum Kadam’, a report on the real beneficiaries of the exemptions provided during the yearly state budget.John is the Bureau Chief in Thiruvananthapuram and
O Radhika (Mathrubhumi) for ‘Nikuthi Chorum Vazhikal’ that appeared in the daily. Radhika is a sub-editor in Thrissur. Both reports were published during February 2015.
Visual Media: Vidhu Vincent, Media One, Thiruvananthapuram bureau, for her report, ‘Samayam Swathanthryathe Bhayapeduthumbol’ and Biju Pankaj (Mathrubhumi news),Kochi bureau, for his report ‘Mathrithvam Vilapanakku’. Both are special correspondents.
