Nirmala James' Collection of Short Stories Released

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A collection of short stories titled ‘Oru Pidi Rahasyangal’ authored by Nirmala James was released here on Saturday.

Prof C P Aboobacker, Chief Editor of Chintha Publishers, handed over a copy of the book to journalist Jimmy James. Prof G N Panicker presided over the function.

Dr M Rajeev Kumar, authors B Murali, Jacintha Morris and Sabeena Raheem offered felicitations.

The work is a collection of 40 short stories penned by Nirmala over a period of 40 years.

G N Panicker, in his presidential address, urged Nirmala, who has made her mark in the field of children’s literature, to write continuously so that she can develop a signature style in the field of short stories. Releasing the book, Aboobacker noted that it was a writer’s responsibility to inform readers of the various social issues.

He opined that Nirmala’s works are an embodiment of her social commitment.

Rajeev Kumar said that each short story of Nirmala offers an underlying message to the reader and that it sticks rigidly to moral values.
