THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  Government LPS, Karichara, has started a Gandhi Darshan Club, to explore the ideals that Gandhi lived by.

On the inaugural day, the students were treated to a fun workshop based on Gandhian philosophy - the making of toys from waste materials.

They watched a bottle cap, a pen, a refill and a strip of torn balloon being put together to make a toot.

Several other materials, usually discarded in the dustbin, found value, as each was turned into a toy.

The programme was conducted by the Kerala University Gandhian Studies Centre.

The workshop was led by Subid K S, who has been conducting similar workshops under the banner ‘Ahimsa Toys’.

Gandhian Studies Centre Coordinator J M Rahim inaugurated and PTA president Karichara Nadirsha presided over the function. School Headmistress M M Leela as well as teachers at the school were present.
