4-yr-old Run over by School Bus while Crossing Road

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A four-year-old boy was run over by the school bus he got down from, while proceeding to his house. The deceased has been identified as Augusthian, son of Manikantan, a resident of Kilimanoor.

According to Kilimanoor police, the accident occurred around 4.30 pm when Augusthian, UKG student of Govt Lower Primary School, Vellaloor and his brothers Aditya, 10, and Adith, 8, were on their way home.

“After getting down from the school bus, the three had crossed the road. Though the bus driver, Sumohanan noticed two boys crossing the road, he was unaware of Augusthian.

“Apparently, he started the bus and moved forward hitting the boy. Though the locals took him to the nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead,” a police official said. The body is now kept at the government hospital and will be handed over to the family after conducting  post-mortem examination on Tuesday. His father Manikantan is a daily wage labourer. The Kilimanoor police have registered a case against the driver of the school bus.
