7 Students Caught on Train after Runaway Attempt Botches up

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Seven school students from Kayamkulam were traced by the Varkala police in a train on Monday after they tried to run away from school at Kayamkulam. The students who were aged 13 and 14 were spotted on ‘Chennai Mail’.

According to Railway Police, the students left their hometown after the school authorities told them to bring their parents to school for tussling with students of another school.

They laid out a plan to flee the place and moved to the railway station. The police began a search on the trains after the Kayamkulam police communicated with the control room following the complaints forwarded by their parents. The control room informed the respective police stations. A woman police officer attached to Varkala police conducted a search in the train and found five students. The rest of the two students were hiding inside a toilet. They were also taken into custody and handed over to the Child Welfare Committee. The parents were informed and the children will be soon handed over to them,” said Pradeep, Railway police inspector.
