THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After a long delay, the AYUSH Department of the state government will be launched on Wednesday. Once the department comes up, it is said to give an impetus to the growth of traditional medicines.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will launch the department. He will also lay the foundation stone of the Ayush Bhavan. Speaker N Sakthan will release the Vision-Mission Ayush.
Finance Minister K M Mani, Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, Revenue minister Adoor Prakash, Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan, Sasi Tharoor MP, MLAs K Muraleedharan, M A Waheed and V Sivankutty, Mayor K Chandrika and district panchayat president Ansajitha Russel will be present among others. A separate department is said to help in modernising the existing hospitals, pushing up research activities, development of education of the various streams of AYUSH, improve quality of drugs and increase the availability of medicinal plants.
