Police Arrest 50-yr-old Quack

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 50-year-old man was arrested by Kattakada police on Monday on charges of duping the public by posing as an allopathic practitioner at Kallikadu. The accused has been identified as S Ajayakumar, a resident of Chakkuvarakkal, Kollam.

According to the police officials, the action comes following widespread complaints that the accused has been running a clinic named NRS hospital since past one year on fraudulent credentials.

“We began a secret investigation as soon as we received the complaints. During investigations, it was found that the accused managed to forge an original MBBS certificate of one Ananthakrishnan of Pathanamthitta, who is not alive. After forging the certificate, he began to consult patients in rural areas where he could easily fleece the latter. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and said that he was originally an ayurveda doctor. The accused eloped with a nurse to Neeligiri hills and the duo began working at a massage centre after the local police began a search for him. We took him into custody from Neelagiri. We also took statements from the nurse and she said that they decided to elope after the accused promised to marry her. The accused has been produced before the magistrate.
