Bharat Bhavan in association with Sound Engineering Academy (SEA) is hosting Music Band Festival 2015 from Tuesday. The fest will showcase six bands from the capital city representing six different music genres. Folk by Folklore, Sufi Rock by Kaun, Jazz by Jazz Jammers, Crossover by Avant, Rock by Untitled and Blues by East Wind will be presented during the fest.
Folk music includes both traditional music and the genre that evolved from it during the 20th century folk revival. The term originated in the 19th century but is often applied to music that is older than that. Folklore is a band experimenting on the conventional folk style of music. They will be performing on August 11.
Kaun will present Sufi Rock, a musical style that is fast catching up. Originating in Pakistan, the genre became popular in late 90s with the band Junoon, and their compositions that combined rock tunes, traditional lyrics and musical styles. They will be performing on August 12.
Jazz Jammers come up with a genre of music that emerged in many parts of the United States in the form of independent popular musical style. They will be performing on August 13. Crossover is a term applied to musical works or performers appearing on two or more of the record charts which track differing musical tastes, or genres. Avant will be showcasing their talent in this genre. They will be performing on August 14.
Untitled, a city based rock band, will present rock, a genre characterized by a strong bass line and driving rhythms. They will be performing on August 15. East Wind will present Blues, one among the most popular music genres in the world. Blues is a musical art form with it’s own distinct musical progressions and much more. They will be performing on August 16.
The six-day festival concludes on August 16 the timing is 7 pm to 8 pm.
