Kerala Scheme for Endosulfan Victims

A project to provide shelter for the victims of the Endosulphan tragedy has been mooted.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A project to provide shelter for the victims of the Endosulphan tragedy, whose lives were altered after the chemical polluted their water and land has been mooted. The scheme will be in association with the Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust jointly with the state government. The scheme titled ‘Saiprasadam- Endosulfan Baadhidarku 108 veedu’ aims at building homes for the poor who don’t have a shelter to turn to.

 Each family affected by the Endusulfan menace from Pullur Periya, Kinanoor Karindalam and Enmagaje Grama Panchayats in the district will be granted 10 cents of land each by the Government. The trust will build a 500 sq feet home for each family within the land, and a total of 108 homes will be constructed by the trust. 

 A children’s park, mini theatre, a health clinic, Sai Balbhavan(anganwadi) will also be provided.
