THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Russian Cultural Centre in the city organised a week-long photo exhibition ‘Milestones in Indo-Russian Relations’ to mark 44th anniversary of the Soviet-Indian Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Co-operation at the Roerich Art Gallery of the Centre.
More than 40 photographs were on display, depicting the important milestones in the history of Indo-Russian relations. Among the highlights were photographs of summits. The Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Co-operation had created a milestone in the diplomatic relationship between the two nations. “This treaty shocked the neighbours and other countries which wanted to take the situation here for granted,” said Ratheesh C Nair, Honorary Consul of Russia and Director of the Russian Cultural Centre. “We also should not forget the contribution of diplomat K Damodaran who was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Moscow in drafting this Treaty,” he said.
