Scholarship for BPL Students

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pratheeksha Charitable Society of HLL Lifecare Limited has invited applications for scholarships from academically outstanding students belonging to BPL category pursuing professional and technical courses.

The scholarship is applicable to those students who have sought admission during the academic year 2015-16. Under the scheme, financial assistance will be offered to students pursuing engineering, medicine, B Pharm, diploma, nursing and ITI courses. The scheme is open mainly to students from Thiruvananthapuram district, studying at any educational institution within Kerala.

While five selected MBBS students will receive an annual grant of `30,000 each, students seeking scholarships for Engineering and B Pharm will get `20,000. Students pursuing diploma and nursing courses will get `10,000 each and those pursuing ITI will receive `5,000 annually.

As many as 30 students will be given grants worth `5.75 lakh this year. Thirty students who were granted scholarships worth `5.75 lakh in 2014 will continue to get the scholarship until they complete the course subject to the conditions stipulated under the scheme. Funds for the society are raised through individual contributions from the employees and from the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility fund.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of academic performance and financial background. Interested applicants should produce original income proof provided by the authorities concerned, along with bonafide student certificate from the head of institution. Candidates selected for the scholarship are expected to submit their yearly academic performance report to continue to avail the scheme.
