Man Arrested for Brother's Murder

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The Kanjiramkulam police on Friday arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly murdering his brother and dumping his body into the sea after bundling him in a sack last Monday.

The accused has been identified as Satheesh, 35, a resident of Mulloor near Vizhinjam. The arrest was recorded after confirming that he had murdered his brother.

The body of Shaji, 33, was washed ashore on  Monday last, off the Kanjiramkulam coast, and found tied in a sack and his identity was revealed only on Thursday during investigation.

“On Thursday evening, we received fool-proof evidence against Satheesh, including the reason for the murder. It all began with a minor altercation between the brothers last Friday after Shaji came to Satheesh’s residence and verbally abused him over some personal issues. Following that, Satheesh kicked Shaji on his chest and the latter lost consciousness and fell down. Apparently, Satheesh thought his brother died and kept the body in a bag and dumped it into the sea off the Pulluvila coast near Kanjiramkulam. The accused has been remanded in custody.
