Wage Protection Scheme

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state-level inauguration of the Labour Department’s wage protection scheme for private institutions will be held at the Mascot Hotel here on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the function at 6 pm. Labour Minister Shibu Baby John will preside over the function.  The minister’s office said in a statement here that the project facilitated salary payment in institutions in select private sectors through banks to ensure that minimum wages were paid. The President has given nod for the amendment in the Minimum Wages Rules to implement the scheme. The Keltron has developed a software for employers to  register with the scheme.
