IT Engineer Held for Drug Trafficking

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A senior IT engineer was arrested by the Neyyattinkara police on Sunday for allegedly transporting drugs, including deadly LSD stamps, in a KSRTC bus.

The accused is Sudheesh Nair, a resident of Elankom Gardens, Vellayambalam. 

According to the police, the accused boarded a private bus from Bengaluru to Kochi and later boarded a KSRTC bus to Thiruvananthapuram.

“He was on a high on drugs when he boarded the KSRTC bus. When the bus stopped at Kollam, he got down and mistakely boarded another bus. He realised the mistake only after some time. The bag carrying the drugs was kept in the first bus. The KSRTC bus crew found the bag and reported it to the local police,” Neyyattinkara police SI Sreekumar said.

Sudheesh landed in police custody after he arrived at the Neyyattinkara bus depot in search of the bag. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and reportedly said that he was addicted to drugs. He possessed at least 312 mg of LSD and 300 gm of ganja and he used to bring LSD stamps for his friends.

“Anything more than 0.031 mg can be considered as commercial quantity under the NDPS Act and he has to serve a long jail term,” Sreekumar added.
