Makaradhwajan to be Staged

For the theatre afficianados in the city, a play is to be staged soon at Vyloppilly Samskruthi Bhavan. After being premiered at Vyloppilly a few months back, the play ‘Makaradhwajan’ is soon to be showcased again on Wednesday at the place.

The drama ‘Makaradhwajan’ by theatre activist Prasanth Narayanan is being staged this time by the theatre group ‘Agra’. The group based in Kollam is being managed by a group of women donning varied roles in theatre namely Shalini Somanath, Sunitha S Prasad, Smitha J P, Deepa Somasundaram and others. The play narrates the story of Makaradhwajan, born to two humans with neither emotional nor physical bondage. The son of Hanuman and the mermaid Makari, the play also bears a hidden message for the present world, which target women. 

Noted Bengali senior theatre activist Ipsita Chakraborthy Singh will be donning the role of Makari in the play. The play will be staged at 6.30 pm on January 2.
