65-year-old woman dies after 50 stray dogs attack her in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a tragic incident, a woman aged 65 years has died after being attacked by stray dogs in Pulluvila beach near here on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Shiluvamma, wife of Chempakaraman Thurayil Chinnappan.

According to reports, Shiluvamma was attacked by as many as 50 dogs on Friday night when she went out to the beach. After his mother failed to return home, Shiluvamma's son Selvaraj went looking for her and found his mother being attacked by the dogs.

However, Selvaraj was also chased by the dogs and suffered minor injuries while Shiluvamma, who was recovered by the locals,  succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.

In a sperate incident, another Pulluvila resident Daisy, aged 52, has been admitted to the Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram after being attacked by stray dogs and suffering injuries on hands and legs on Friday.

According to the locals, the region has been facing stray dog menace for a very long time and no action has been taken by the authorities.
