Specialist Doctors Demand Separate Directorate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Government Specialist Doctors Association (KGSDA) has demanded the state government to form a separate directorate for specialist cadre in the state on the lines of the Directorate of the Health Service. The KGSDA made the demand at the South Zone conference of the association here.

The association leaders said that a separate directorate was one of the recommendations of the Pay Revision Commission. Apart from the separate directorate, the association also demanded that the specialist should also be included in the ‘Senior Medical Officers’ conference.

It has been said that many of the decisions with regard to patient care at the conference were being taken without seeking opinion of the specialists who are directly involved with patient care.

They also demanded inclusion of specialist doctors in the Hospital Management Committees. Former DHS Dr Jayashankar, KGSDA president Dr Aby John, secretary Dr Sunjith Ravi, IMA representative Dr  Mohan Roy, Dr Sreekumar, Dr Mohammed Ashraf and others were present at the conference held on Sunday.
