THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A webite dedicated to documenting women’s writing in Malayalam has been started. The site - www.womenwritersofkerala.com - aims at creating a new space and voice in this category. The website acknowledges all writers duly as well as to facilitate research on their works that have come to us from the earliest times to the present.
Each author will be featured with their photo, bionotes, details of books, blurbs, comments by readers and critiques etc. It is being edited and managed by women. “Considering the fact that writing has many dimensions, the project has set its sights not merely on creative or imaginative works alone, like short stories, novels, plays and poems, but embraces all forms of composition - autobiographies, travel writings, social treatises, science articles, translations, critical pieces, spiritual essays, cookery books and so on,” said the organisers. It is the first phase work of Women Writers of India which plans to create similar websites in other languages. The site is edited and managed by women. Sreedevi K Nair is the editor, G S Jayashree, the consulting editor, Sandhya Gopinath, who is the principal of NSS Women’s College and K R Chandralekha are the editorial assistants. The website was inaugurated by Governor P Sathasivam on Tuesday.
