THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Peroorkada police on Saturday arrested a 54-year-old goon in connection with the alleged assault on a man at Manikanteshwaram bridge near Peroorkada on Friday night. The police have identified the accused as Vettukathi Ambili alias Radhakrishnan, a resident of Nettayam.
The incident occurred on Friday night when the victim, Sreekumaran, was on his way home. Sreekumaran and Radhakrishnan were not in good terms and the accused was waiting for a chance to take revenge over an issue which occurred recently. When Sreekumaran reached Manikanteshwaram bridge, the accused assaulted him. He fled from the scene after the locals rushed to the spot.

However, the police nabbed the accused from his residence on Saturday. He was produced before the magistrate, who remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days, police said. Police said that Radhakrishnan was accused in several criminal cases, including rape and attempt to murder, which were registered at various police stations in city limits.
